IFSC or the "International Financial Services Commission", the regulatory body for Belize, was formed in 1999. The IFSC has the authority to regulate brokers, businesses and organizations involved in financial and investment markets. The IFSC is responsible to the Belize Securities Department and the International Financial Services Commission Act.
The IFSC strives to create a user-friendly market environment for Belizeans and outside investors by enhancing Belize's financial markets and services at the international level, investment services, in finance, fund management companies, and licensed investment scheme providers, granting licenses to investment companies and financial institutions others, as well as taking preventive and disciplinary measures for companies that practice finance.
